Design is a process. Visual research is the process behind a final outcome.
Researching is quite important when we’re developing a project and this should be turned into something concrete so that people can understand and SEE our ideas – creating visual prototypes is a way to do so. These can even be simple little drawings that show what we mean.
Document it (photograph, film, write). Reflect (annotate and draw). Accumulate (keep everything). Design and then blog it.
The main point behind Sarah’s talk is that we can’t keep our thoughts to ourselves because as illustrators/graphic designers, we are creating something for the public so we must communicate our ideas in the best way possible.
