Today we had a session with Adrian and Matthew on “Moving type” and using type as imagery.

The session was divided in two parts: First, we had a quick lecture with Matthew, where he talked about ways of using type and/as image and sound, as well as some contemporary artists’ work and the many differences between modern and post-modern beliefs in what comes to typography.

After this, we moved to the computer room to start the more “digital” part of the workshop: using after effects to make out typography move.

I found it really interesting how there’s so many things you can do with type on after effects, from animating your text to adding effects, it really gives the text a little bit more of personality, making it go from a dull static image to something that can capture the viewers’ attention.
